17 veterans die each day from
taking their own life

Victory Through Sacrifice aims to change that with an innovative approach to mental and physical health for our veterans and first responders.

Veterans and first responders are dealing with a mental health crisis. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, approximately 17 veterans die each day from taking their own life.

This statistic is a glaring example of the mental health challenges veterans struggle with. This is a multifaceted issue that involves mental health issues, traumatic experiences, transition challenges, social isolation and more.

Addressing veterans (and first responder) mental health, transition support, and promoting social connectedness are the cornerstone of what Victory Through Sacrifice represents.

Evidence suggests that veterans who have strong social connections and support networks are able handle their mental health challenges in a healthy way.

Victory Through Sacrifice provides community and social support to veterans and first responders while facilitating challenging training to develop the mental, physical, spiritual fortitude of our veterans and first responders.

Going through life with others creates unbreakable bonds. Victory Through Sacrifice provides veterans and first responders an opportunity to engage in mental and physical challenges while providing all the support to ensure healthy long lasting bonds are created.

Participants can join Jiu Jitsu, striking, MMA, or fitness classes with our champion instructors leading every step of the way to ensure technical guidance and safety. To recover, participants can take yoga, meditation, and breathwork classes.

To ensure whole body optimization VTS has on-site physical therapists, nutritionists and fitness experts for consultations.

Training Jiu Jitsu at Vision provides one of the few spaces in my life where I absolutely cannot deceive myself. There’s no faking ability, no shortcuts that one can take- it is what it is on the mats and the sobriety of mind that provides is invaluable. That this happens in a space that is both welcoming and safe is a true Blessing.

Jiu Jitsu and the other programs offered through VTS have provided me with a community of people who value growth that adversity provides and the camaraderie that is born from doing hard things together.

I like training at Vision as a veteran for a multitude of reasons, none more important to me than the sense of community. After leaving the military, many veterans feel lost as they try to find their new tribe. For many of us, the relationships we formed in the military stem from a shared suffering experience. Juijitsu now occupies the similar gap for me on the civilian side, and it’s been a pleasure to make some new lifetime friends along the way.

Jiu-jitsu at Vision adds so much to my life. Primarily it is a chance to learn an awesome skill, continually be humbled, and push through adversity. On top of all that it is a great community with the chance to train and learn from people with different backgrounds and life situations.
